"Kindness is the essence of  greatness."
                                                                  Joseph B. wirthlin
I think Many years ago, when I was called as a bishop, I had a desire for the bishopric to visit those who were less active in the Church and see if there was anything we could do to bring the blessings of the gospel into their lives. One day we visited a man in his 50s who was a respected mechanic. He told me the last time he had been to church was when he was a young boy. Something had happened that day. He had been acting up in class and was being noisier than he should when his teacher became angry, pulled him out of class, and told him not to come back.

William of Wykeham
       "Manners maketh man."
            William Wykeham

I thinck Manners Makyth Man’ was the original motto of William of Wykeman, (1324-1404). William was the Bishop of Winchester; Chancellor of England; founder of Winchester College, New College, Oxford; New College School, Oxford and thebuilder of a large part of Windsor Castle.
William was born to a poor family in Hampshire and educated at school in Winchester. He had an illustrious career working as an architectural advisor for King Edward III, being appointed as Lord Privy Seal in 1363 and later being elected Bishop of Winchester and in 1367, Chancellor of England.

"if it is not right, do not do it; if it is not true, do not say it." Marcus Aurelius

I think Marcus Aurelius Latin: Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus; 26 April 121 – 17 March 180 AD) was Roman Emperor from 161 to 180. He ruled with Lucius Verus as co-emperor from 161 until Verus' death in 169. Marcus Aurelius was the last of the so-called Five Good Emperors. He was a practitioner of Stoicism, and his untitled writing, commonly known as the Meditations, is the most significant source of the modern understanding of ancient Stoic philosophy.
                                             Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Day

In the English tradition, days of thanksgiving and special thanksgiving religious services became important during the English Reformation in the reign of Henry VIII and in reaction to the large number of religious holidays on the Catholic calendar. Before 1536 there were 95 Church holidays, plus 52 Sundays, when people were required to attend church and forego work and sometimes pay for expensive celebrations. The 1536 reforms reduced the number of Church holidays to 27, but some Puritans wished to completely eliminate all Church holidays, including Christmas and Easter. The holidays were to be replaced by specially called Days of Fasting or Days of Thanksgiving, in response to events that the Puritans viewed as acts of special providence. Unexpected disasters or threats of judgement from on high called for Days of Fasting. Special blessings, viewed as coming from God, called for Days of Thanksgiving. For example, Days of Fasting were called on account of drought in 1611, floods in 1613, and plagues in 1604 and 1622. Days of Thanksgiving were called following the victory over the Spanish Armada in 1588 and following the deliverance of Queen Anne in 1705. An unusual annual Day of Thanksgiving began in 1606 following the failure of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 and developed into Guy Fawkes Day on November 5th.[3]

"Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing." Chick Moorman
After two weeks of practice, Gordon dropped out. My friends on his team laughed when they told me how their coach directed two of the team's better players to walk Gordon into the woods and have a chat with him. "Get lost" was the message that was delivered, and "get lost" was the one that was heard.
That scenario violated my 11-year-old sense of justice, so I did what any indignant shortstop would do. I tattled. I told my coach the whole story. I shared the episode in full detail, figuring my coach would complain to the League office and have Gordon returned to his original team. Justice and my team's chances of winning would both be served.

He  that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. proverbs 13:20.

A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health. Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured. The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil. Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed. A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.

"The best recreation is to do good."
                                                                   William penn

The best thing you can do is the good. Doing the good makes you feel good about yourself. Being a good person is important as well. If you do good you will feel good. Even if you are the only person doing good and everyone else is doing bad.
